Cocoa Beans and Their Uses as Well as Benefits
Cocoa is the fully ripened fatty seed of the cacao tree. The pod it’s contained in is a leathery shell 3cm thick and holds 30 to 50 pinkish purplish almond-like seeds that are fairly soft. the scientific name is Theobroma cacao and is found mostly in Africa and Central America as well as South America.
Cocoa beans in dark chocolate form are beneficial to human health in many ways. The bean produces serotonin, dopamine and phenylethylamine.
The phenylethylamine, or PEA in cocoa affects the brain in a positive way. The way the different natural chemicals in cocoa affect the brain make cocoa a natural antidepressant .
The cacao tree is a small evergreen. The ripe pods come in shades of yellow, orange, and red and are shaped like footballs. The bean raw is somewhat bitter.
The pods are harvested with a machete and sliced open as well. The rind is discarded and the beans are put in bins for several days. During this time, the beans ’sweat’, the pulp liquefies as it ferments, the fermented pulp trickles away leaving the seeds to be collected. The beans are then laid out on a large surface with people constantly raking them. When the beans are dry, people ( WITH CLEAN FEET ) walk on them. Sometimes red clay is added to protect against mold and mildew. The beans are then shipped, usually be sea, to processing facilities.
To make 2.2lbs of chocolate you need to use about 300 to 600 beans. In factories, the bans are roasted and shelled by a ‘winnower‘. The resulting pieces are nibs and are ground, by various methods, into a thick creamy paste known as chocolate liquor or cocoa paste. The ‘liquor’ is processed into chocolate by mixing in more cocoa butter an d sugar (sometimes vanilla) then refined, mixed and tempered. Sometimes it’s separated into cocoa butter and cocoa powder. The cocoa butter is used in cosmetics and the cocoa powder is used to make homemade hot coco mix.
Cocoa beans have many uses and benefits, if you didn’t know any of this before, cool, you learned something new! If you already knew some of this, well, I hope you learned something new! The following pictures are cocoa in its various forms;

Thanksgiving
Turkey and Pie, Oh my!
Cranberry sauce and stuffin’, not just for nothin’!
Gravy and Mashed Potatoes, nobody hates those!
People arrive, your house turns into a beehive!
Everyone’s a kin, so let the fun begin!
Now everyone leaves and Christmas is edging,
I am getting ready, and I just have to say,
OH GREAT!

Ok, shocking news. My hair is 1″ long and look’s like a boy’s. I AM OKAY WITH IT!!!!!!!!! I like it.
First, she…cropped, it. It was really short. Not like ‘boy length’, just a bit longer than my dad’s. Then, She… no, HE shaved it. Now it looks like your typical boy hair…
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I AM OK WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE WHAT MY HAIR LOOKED LIKE ALONG THE WAY

The biggest photo is what I look like now, again, I LIKE IT!!!!!!! It’s a little lighter now. Dirty blonde-ish. The only thing that scares me now is school. I wonder if I’m going to get teased? Are the other kids gonna like it? I don’t know. But, then again, I. DON’T. CARE.

I’m on a HUGE summer vacation!! I started off at the Grand Canyon, after that, I went to D.C. with my aunt and uncle. We toured the Capital, wandered around the Mall, saw Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian. Before we saw the movie we went to Coco Sala , AND EVERYTHING ON THE MENU HAD CHOCOLATE!!!! I tried chocolate covered bacon, it was VERY yummy.
Now I’m in North Carolina, with my grandparents. We just got back from Kitty Hawk , where the Wright Brothers made and flew the first airplane. We saw the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th flights, that was cool.(They were stone markers) Saturday I’m supposed to go sailing with Nathan and Sophia, but we don’t know what the weathers gonna be like, lets hope the weather holds up, fingers crossed!!!!

My family went to my Mom’s friend’s house. She has a wolf pup named Luna. She also has a wolf named Dakota. Terry has a really tall bunkbed and we got to go on it. The house was a really small house. Terry has three horses. I go to pet her foal. The moon was orange and the wolfs started to howl. The party was really fun because all of our friends were there. We were asleep when it was time to go home. I got to bring some cheese and bread to the party.

We went to Terry’s house. She has a bay mare, a white and brown blotched male horse and a cinnamon filly. She also raises tundra wolves, she also recently received a timber wolf pup. Her house is a small cottage in LOTS of land. Terry plays guitar and she occasionally plays piano.
I wrote a poem that tells you more. Hope you enjoy it!!
Way down the road, on the outskirts of town, there’s a house, a small house with three horses, twenty wolves, and a bus, an old, abandoned bus. The night we visited was clear, stars sparkled in peculiar patterns. The moon, the pale orange moon, caught our eyes. OOOHHH’s and AAAAHHHHH’s escaped our mouths. The wolves started howling, most were white, the moon orange light made them mysterious, like thieves in the night.
The horses were calm, though the wolves did howl, the bay mare, white and brown male, and cinnamon filly stood grazing in the pale moonlight. While the wolves did howl and bark, the horses remained errily calm. And the bus, the old abandoned bus, stayed where it was last parked, bathed in orange moonlight.
Sorry I haven’t written for AGES…
!BYE!
